The Seattle Symphonic Band was founded in 1970 under the direction of Ben Halgrimson. Dr. Stafford Miller assumed the leadership in 1972, beginning a tenure of distinguished service which lasted 21 years. Raydell Bradley directed the ensemble from 1993 through 1997. Lauren Anderson was appointed Music Director and Conductor in 1998.
The Seattle Symphonic Band has given many distinguished performances in the past three decades, including a concert in Victoria, British Columbia for the Victoria Days Celebration; concerts at the Seattle Center Opera House; a performance for the Music Educators’ National Conference; and concerts in many parks and churches in the Seattle area. The band performs concerts quarterly at NSCC and performs regularly throughout the Greater Seattle area for civic functions, summer concerts-in-the-parks and private engagements.
